SOUNDS LIKE A BOOK: NOMAD
Functioning as a mobile extension of the residency program, Sounds Like a Book: Nomad activates the archive while exploring new formats of presenting and engaging with both the artist books and the sound compositions created over the years, while moving beyond traditional art spaces. The books and sonic compositions will follow a pre-established route, stopping along the way to visit friends and collaborators across Europe, who will create intimate, interactive, and performative settings for experiencing and engaging with the works.
The program introduces alternative formats for experiencing the books and sounds from previous editions: Sounds Like a Book: Bandwidth, Sounds Like a Book: BUZZZZ, Sounds Like a Book: Threads and Sounds Like a Book: (S)pace.

The last iteration of SLB: Nomad took place in Serbia and was coordinated by the artist and curator Mia Ćuk and Andrej Dolinka, a professor at the University of Applied Arts. Each student selected a book and ventured toward the city’s periphery, engaging with the artistic projects through performative means. As they interacted with the publications, new narratives and perceptual experiences emerged. The Situationist spirit was ever-present, particularly in its emphasis on aimless city walks and the exploration of spaces, alongside the emotions they evoke.
